General Quality Review: The Apex Group conducts comprehensive school-wide and/or district-wide quality reviews, providing a systematic, thorough, and comprehensive review of programs, systems, and personnel. We identify educational standards achieved and not achieved at each school site, and provide detailed strategies for school leadership teams on implementing critical changes within buildings focused upon student academic performance. The Apex Group believes that all reviews are conducted as a partnership, focusing on collaboration, professionalism, and sensitivity. Our work is conducted alongside teachers and leaders to ensure that progress is made with them rather than change being forced upon them. The quality review process will also provide each school with verbal and written feedback that is clear, constructive, and easily understood.
Professional Development for Teachers and Administration:
The Apex Group and its team members have conducted professional development in schools and districts across the United States. We know that teaching quality has a tremendous impact on student achievement, and as a result, The Apex Group focuses its professional development on teachers in the classroom. To be truly effective, professional development for teachers must be multifaceted. We first present professional development in large or small group settings, focusing on specific topics that are relevant and important for the school and/or district. However, if all we do is present information and hope that it is properly implemented in classrooms with fidelity, we would be doing a great disservice to our teachers and students. Instead, we follow up the group sessions with one-on- one coaching and mentoring alongside teachers in the classroom. In some cases this includes modeling lessons; in other cases in could mean working with the teacher on behavior management or effective lesson planning. In all cases our support is customized to each individual teacher, with each having his or her own supports based on need in the classroom.
